Living in Bendinat, Mallorca

Bendinat, is a coastal community in the southwest, where you will undoubtedly find wonderful villas, luxury flats, unique properties and spectacular surroundings. Bendinat is situated about 10 km from Palma, and is ideal both for appreciating the peaceful atmosphere close to nature and for visiting the centre of the island in a few minutes.

It is one of the most luxurious localities of Mallorca due to its proximity to the beaches of Illetas or Portals. Portals is a neighbouring locality that can be visited by taking a pleasant walk or bicycle ride along paths surrounded by nature. Its atmosphere combines luxurious hotels and restaurants, but also markets, events, bars and clubs.

One of the most valued restaurants in Bendinat is the restaurant "Las Terrazas", with beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea and easy access to the cove of Bendinat.

Although no town on the island is really far away, Bendinat is one of the closest to Palma. It is also close to other charming and popular towns such as Andratx, Palmanova and Santa Ponsa, which have several bays and harbours that can be visited by boat from the port of Portals.

WHAT TO SEE IN BENDINAT: HISTORY, ART AND CULTURE

The name of the town comes from when King James of Aragon camped in Bendinat after a hard battle against the Moors. History relates the link to the origin of the name itself; it is said that the king said "Ben dinat", which means "well dined" in Catalan, after enjoying a meal in a tent.

The castle of Bendinat in Central European Gothic style, built in 1855 by the third Marquis of La Romana, Pedro Caro, stands out. The estate has had several owners and it is still possible to see the castle from a distance, however, due to the fact that it is private property it is not open to tourists.
